When someone asks for something to be done or provided, you can say that they make a request.
My friend made a polite request.
The Minister had granted the request.
You say that someone makes a request for something.
He agreed to my request for help.
used as a verb
When someone requests something, they ask for it.
The President requested an emergency meeting of the United Nations.
The pilot had requested permission to land immediately at the airport.
Be careful
When request is a verb, don't use ‘for’ after it. Don't say, for example, ‘The President requested for an emergency meeting’.
